Ran for University of Chicago High School for Ronald Drozd (Northwestern/coached by Don Amidie).
Owns Indoor and Outdoor All-Time Mile records, 4-Time Outdoor Mile Conference Champion.
Qualified and ran in the State Meet in the Mile Run, Junior and Senior year.
Was Captain of Cross-Country team and Co-Captain of Track team, Senior year.
Broke National High School 30k road record in 1974, still holds age 15 record of 1:57:34.
This 30k was run in the AAU National Junior, Open and Masters 30k Championship. Ran for UCTC/Ted Haydon.
Was AAU Central Championship Outdoor 3,000 Meter Steeplechase Champion, Senior year.
Steeple coached by Charles "Deacon" Jones (Iowa/Olympian).
Ran in National Prep Track and Field Invitational at Dyke Stadium, Northwestern University, Senior year.
Ran WLS Run For The Zoo 8.9 miles, top ten finish in Open div., Junior and Senior year.
Ran Chicago Distance Classic, top ten finish in Open div., Senior year.
College:
Ran one year at Grinnell College (Div 3) as Freshman.
Most Valuable Cross Country Runner Award and Most Valuable Freshman Athlete of the Year at Grinnell College.
Transferred to University of Wisconsin at Madison (Div 1) to run for Dan McClimon, Head Men's Coach.
Ran as walk-on for Dan McClimon both red-shirted year and following years competing in the Big 10.
Ran 3-mile, 5k, 10k and 3k Steeplechase.
Ran on 1978 Cross-Country Team that took 3rd in NCAA 10k Championship behind UTEP and Oregon.
Lettered in Cross-Country and Track becoming member of the Wisconsin W Club-Lifetime. Go Badgers.
Was Cross Country Coach at University of Chicago High School (1 year).
Was Head Distance coach for the University of Chicago Track Club (Youth and Open/Elite Program).
Was Head Meet Director for 3-Day North American Continent Maccabiah Youth Track and Field Games held in Chicago, Illinois in the Summer of 1988.
Was Board member of UCTC for 21 years. Joined UCTC at age 13 after having met Ted Haydon.
Awarded Howard H. Williams Memorial Service Award from UCTC for outstanding contribution to the Club.
Also awarded 25 year Service Award by the Blue Gargoyle Youth Service for being a Founder of the Gargoyle Gallop 8k Race (USATF santioned).
Member of National USA Track and Field.
Master Level Track and Field Official for USATF. Has officiated at local, State, National and NCAA meets since 1982.
Was USATF Illinois, and then, USATF Midwest Master's Champion in 40-45 yr. old
category in the Men's Javelin Throw.
Mayor Daley's Summer Track Meet Program in conjunction with World Sport Chicago, Head Coach-4th Ward. Summer 2009. Also involved with helping organize/design program with committee/coalition committed to getting kid's off the street and on the Track. God Bless.
